What is a "Zine" and why would I make one?

A Zine (pronounced "zeen" like maga-zine) is a self-published, small-format magazine or fanzine focused on a single topic.  They can be made from a single sheet of paper or with as many pages as you like.  Some zines are fan fiction stories (think Harry Potter or Star Trek), while others are tiny graphic novels or pictures of favorite or original art pieces.  Zines can include text like poems, essays, short stories, graphics such as photos or drawings, or anything you choose!

During this drop-in workshop, teens will work on composition, editing, and layout of their own Zine, or work with others on a collaborative Zine.  Once your Zine is finished, you can "publish" copies using the library printer copier!

No registration is necessary.  Junior high and senior high students aged 12 and up can drop in any time Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday to work on their Zine.  If you want to include original work (writing, artwork, etc.) be sure to bring it with!
