The American Banker in Paris: The Remarkable True Story of Little Known Nelson Dean Jay

Nelson Dean Jay is one of the most influential financiers of the 20th century, but many people have never heard of him.  Born and raised in Elmwood, IL, he became instrumental in the American efforts in World War I, ran the European division of JP Morgan Chase for over 30 years, was the acting president of the American Red Cross, and helped craft the economic reconstruction of post-World War II Europe.  For decades, he ran in elite social and political circles, dining with presidents and royalty, advising industrial magnates, and hobnobbing with celebrities like the Lindberghs, Ernest Hemingway, and Igor Stravinsky.
