Event Details

The Kite Runner

The Central Illinois Reads: Freedom to Read partnership will be screening films based on banned or challenged books from April to October.

We invite you to join us for a screening and optional discussion afterward of "The Kite Runner."  This 2007 drama/romance is rated PG-13 and is based on the 2003 book of the same title by Khaled Hosseini.

The Kite Runner is the heartbreaking story of the unlikely friendship between a wealthy boy and the son of his father’s servant, caught in the tragic sweep of history in Afghanistan.  A powerful story of friendship, it is also about the power of reading, the price of betrayal, and the possibility of redemption; and an exploration of the power of fathers over sons — their love, their sacrifices, their lies.

Dinner will not be provided, but we invite you to bring your dinner and experience this film on the big screen in the auditorium at Peoria Public Main Library, 107 NE Monroe.

Please note: This program is being hosted at the Peoria Public Library's downtown Main Library.
